Educational Technology Staff


Michael P. Bangert, Asst. Director

Michael manages the day-to-day operations of Educational Technology, serves as the senior ANGEL administrator, and is the developer of the Clinical Encounters Real-Time Tracking System (CERTTS). He has been a technology professional at IU for 12 years. Michael earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Technology from Purdue University in 2001 and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2007.



Watson Prunier, Systems Administrator

Watson is the IT Systems Administrator for Educational Technology and manages server and workstation security for IUSM systems that are maintained by Educational Technology, including ANGEL and staff file and print systems. He is responsible for spearheading research and development into new technologies and ways to implement them to the clients of Educational Technology. He is an accomplished web software developer who creates solutions for IU departments using development tools from Microsoft and the open source community. He has been a technology professional at IU for four (4) years and has been working as a technology professional for eighteen (18) years.



Michael A. Taylor, Web & Multimedia Specialist

Specializing in web development and web-based multimedia production, Michael has provided professional technology services to Indiana University for 10 years. As an ANGEL administrator, Michael provides online support and course development for teaching and learning applications. His professional focus also includes, the design and development of interactive, database driven web applications and web-based media to support and enhance teaching and learning at IU. As a seasoned web developer and media specialist, Michael's experience affords him the ability to work closely with diverse clientele. Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications, from the College of Communication, Information, and Media at Ball State University.



Eric E. Cox, Applications Administrator

Eric provides support and systems development for ANGEL and the Clinical Encounters Real-Time Tracking System (CERTTS), as well as PDA training and support. He has been an Educational Technology professional for 6 years as a Director of Technology and School Technology Coordinator for area High Schools while gaining invaluable experience developing and supporting education based applications.  Eric earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from the University of North Florida in 2002.



Carol Thorne, Systems Specialist

Carol provides daily support and troubleshooting for university computers, printers, electronic equipment (scanners, handheld devices, etc.) and machines for faculty and staff. She solves technical problems for faculty, staff, students, and patrons including CERTTS and ANGEL problems. She joined Ruth Lilly Medical Library in September of 2003. Previously, she held computer support analyst and customer service positions in Hong Kong and is fluent in Cantonese and English. Carol has a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.



Wilfredo Portillo, Systems Specialist

Wilfredo Portillo provides a high level of personal computing support to students of the Indiana University School of Medicine. He is the primary contact for PDA support, laptop configurations and general computing questions for CERTTS, ANGEL and other IU systems. He is fluent in Spanish and English. Wilfredo earned an Associate of Science in Computer Technology from Ivy Tech Community college, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Purdue University, and holds CompTIA Networking and A+ certifications.
